The X-O-Plex was my Undergrad Thesis Project in Architecture School, 2001. It would be a place for extreme athletes to train for competition. The thesis idea behind this project was how does an extreme sport define it’s own space? I grew up in Orange County, Laguna Beach to be specific. As a kid and young adult I indulged in skim boarding, surfing skateboarding and snowboarding. I understand the culture behind each of these sports and the origin as well. This project gave me an opportunity to combine two things that I love, Architecture and Extreme Sports. That is why I made up this project. With two passions on each side of the spectrum I figured that I would see what happened when they became one.
